Missing teeth can turn regular life into “soft foods only,” mumbled words, and a smile you try not to show. A denture should fix that, not create a new set of problems like slipping, clicking, pressure pain, and ulcers.
At Angela Leung DDS PC – The Endodontics Implant Center, we approach dentures like a functional restoration: we stabilize the foundation, confirm the bite, choose materials and design based on risk, then refine the fit with a real follow-up plan so your denture supports comfortable chewing, clearer speech, and natural facial support.
Loose dentures usually aren’t “just something you must live with.” They fail for predictable reasons: inflamed tissues, unstable support areas, a bite position that shifts, borders that over-extend, or chewing forces that aren’t balanced.
Here’s what we target on purpose:
A lot of denture pages talk about appearance. We plan for function + tissue health + comfort because those are what determine whether you’ll actually wear the denture.
That means we don’t treat dentures as “take an impression and hope.” We focus on:
Best when you’re missing all teeth in an arch (or the remaining teeth can’t be saved). Full dentures rely on the shape of your gums and bone for support and retention so border design and bite balance matter a lot.
Best when you still have healthy teeth worth keeping. A partial fills spaces and helps prevent remaining teeth from shifting, but success depends on abutment tooth health, clasp/support design, and how easy it is to keep clean.
Not sure which you need? That’s normal. We’ll walk through the decision based on what you’re trying to restore: chewing, comfort, stability, appearance, or all of the above.

Some mouths especially lower dentures struggle with retention because of anatomy and bone changes. When stability is the main problem, implant support can be a game-changer.
Options we discuss (case-dependent):
We document what affects comfort and fit: tissue health, sore-spot history, dry mouth risk, gag concerns, your chewing goals, and what failed before.
Photos/notes and records that guide design choices (tooth position, bite balance, border extension).
You’ll see the logic: full vs partial, material selection, tooth setup for speech and esthetics, and (for partials) clasp/support planning.
This is where we prevent “surprises” at delivery shape, tooth position, bite feel, and appearance get checked before finalization.
We expect an adaptation period. We also expect to refine fit and bite on purpose so small issues don’t turn into “I can’t wear this.”
If you’re wearing an older denture or partial, the right move might be a:
We’ll explain what’s driving the problem, what the realistic stability level is, and what changes the plan.
We’ll give you a written plan with costs before treatment begins, then help you choose a realistic path forward.
Not if tooth shape, shade, and setup are chosen for your face and smile line then verified at try-in.
Gagging is often tied to thickness, border extension, and how the denture sits against sensitive areas. We plan borders and contours to reduce that trigger.
That’s usually pressure concentration. The fix isn’t random grinding—it’s targeted adjustment based on where the denture is overloading tissue.
Chewing improves when the bite is stable and balanced. We set expectations, coach adaptation, and refine bite contacts so you’re not stuck avoiding real food.
Not always. But if looseness is chronic—especially on the lower—implant stabilization may be the most reliable path. We’ll discuss it with clear pros/limits for your case.
